There is a peculiar thing that
happens to certain movies.
First, you watch them. Then you quote them. One December, you realize the people
beside you have been saying the lines along with you for years.
“Triple dog dare.” “Major award.”
“You'll shoot your eye out.”
The scenes stay the same. The people watching with you change, grow,
and bring someone new into the room.
It became part of Christmas.

But something has
always been missing.
A signed photo finds its way into a drawer. The date you met a cast member gets harder to remember. A child asks about the picture, and you wish you had written the story down.
The signature may remain. The story behind it begins to disappear.
